A team of expert pathologists associated with the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) in the Netherlands have just published an article in Virchows Archiv — the official journal of the European Society of Pathology — highlighting the successful development and deployment of the team’s groundbreaking standardized structured reporting tool (SSR) for placental pathology.   LogicNets congratulates the authors we engaged with — Sanne J. Gordijn of UMCG and Ekaterina Bazyleva, Paul Seegers and Tobias Sprong of Palga (the Dutch National Pathology Foundation) — as well as the rest of the team for the clear success they have realized with the SSR tool and the recognition that goes with the publication or their article.

The SSR Tool was created by the authors using the LogicNets platform to digitally render and automate advanced reporting protocols based on the Amsterdam Criteria, Freedman placental phenotype classification system, and other consensus recommendations on placental examination that have proven difficult for pathologists to follow in the field without an automated system.  The LogicNets platform enables a powerful interactive and dynamic online environment for pathologists to analyze and report on placental histological samples.  By bringing structure and consistency to placental assessments, the authors describe in their paper how the SSR tool has enhanced clinical utility and enabled the success of large-scale research activities.

We’re proud that LogicNets could support the team and this important advancement in perinatal pathology.
